CHAIYO is an editorial studio by Michael Rothermel and Saritha Rothermel focused on creating films that spark empathy. We help people understand each other better through the visual medium of film. Our focus is feature length documentaries, short films, and branded content with a storyteller’s eye and a love of creative collaboration.

CHAIYO “ไชโย”(pronounced chai like the tea, yo like a yoyo) is a Thai victory cry that means Bravo! or Huzzah! It’s the feeling of celebration we want to have with you at the end of a successful film project.

Based in Lancaster, PA with remote workflows that allow us to seamlessly collaborate with global partners.

Saritha Rothermel

Producer

Saritha is a Thai-American filmmaker and licensed professional counselor whose work sits at the intersection of healing and storytelling.

Saritha specializes in working with young people facing trauma, suicide risk, and post traumatic stress, which brings a profound depth of empathy and psychological insight to her filmmaking.

Michael Rothermel

Editor

Michael makes films with the belief that a good story can change you. His career as a filmmaker has taken him from Rwanda to Times Square. His work has been featured on PBS, Universal, and SXSW.

Michael’s 16 years of experience has given him insights into a diverse filmmaking experience, which allows him to partner with film directors to bring their vision to life with a deep understanding.

We collaborate with you to find the best possible version of the film that will satisfy the client’s vision for the project. Whether it be a short film or an episodic documentary, we elevate your creative direction with our editorial chops to deliver the final film.
